HISTORIA ( GÓTICOS )
Bem, o Regente
pediu que eu criasse um tópico sobre Deathrock. E o texto no qual eu confio mais
é esse do Fallen Archangel. Não é exatamente sobre Deathrock. É sobre Gothic
Rock. Mas o Deathrock surgiu deste e acho que é impossível falar dele sem
mencionar o Gothic Rock.
Eu confesso que a linha que separa um do outro às vezes é muito tênue. Mas as
diferenças que tenho notado do Gothic pro Deathrock desde que comecei a escutar
é que o primeiro tem uma sonordidade mais etérea e marcada pela música
eletrônica. Você vai encontrar, por exemplo, "bandas" de Gothic Rock com apenas
dois integrantes como é o caso do Paralysed Age. Muitas vezes, como o próprio
Fallen diz, a bateria é feita com teclado.
Já o Deathrock vai apresentar uma sonoridade muito minimalista. E muitas vezes
psicodélica. É o caso do Cinema Strange, uma das bandas mais populares do
gênero. E do Madame Edwarda, banda japonesa obscura da década de 1980. Aqui
também você vai ver que, em muitos casos, os vocalistas tendem a gritar. Ou
apresentar uma interpretação mais diferenciada. No Gothic Rock quase sempre o
que se vai perceber é o vocal falado mesmo, caso do Lestat, The Sisters of Mercy,
London After Midnight e por aí vai...
De semelhanças, acho que a principal que há entre o Deathrock e o Gothic Rock é
que ambos têm uma abordagem pessimista do mundo. But não é como o Gothic Metal
que faz a linha "mal-do-século". Não. Aqui há um sarcasmo e uma ironia muito
grandes. Até mesmo quando o tema é o amor e a morte.

Vira e mexe temos pessoas que procuram saber o que faz e o
que é a música gótica. Querem entender da subcultura e entender como os
góticos se tornaram góticos e de onde surgiu tudo isso. Até então nunca houve uma ênfase muito grande para uma das coisas mais importantes do meio: o som. Nenhum dos artigos visou explicar o que é o que dentro da subcultura em termos de sonoridade, de bandas, de elementos que ajudaram a definir a mesma. Então, caros leitores, vamos embarcar num pequeno resumo sobre o que é, de fato, o estilo que originou tudo isso, que fez com que os góticos tomassem vida (ou se levantassem de seus caixões): o gothic rock ou rock gótico. Origens  E por onde tudo começou? Em muitos locais a informação
corrente é que tudo começou com o post-punk,
entre 1979 e 1983. De fato, grupos como o Joy Division
ajudaram a começar tudo isso, mas vamos traçar aqui um linha musical para
que você, caro leitor, possa se situar. 
Agora vamos dar uma pausa no post-punk. Sabendo que
uma parte do estereótipo começou por aí, vamos ao grupo inglês
Bauhaus, em setembro de 1979. Sonoramente
falando valia-se de um post-punk com temas
mais introspectivos e climas mais sombrios. Visualmente se pautavam no
glam do David Bowie. Suas letras passaram a
ter temas mais sombrios e humorísticos, ligados ao cinema e a movimentos
de vanguarda (não que fossem os temas principais, apenas os mais
visíveis).

chamado de post-punk, Siouxsie and the Banshees
ainda dentro do punk-rock e o The Cure podendo
ser considerado New Wave na época. Todas essas bandas tinham alguma marca do
que seria chamado mais tarde de gótico. Só que o Bauhaus não entrava em
nenhuma delas. Tinha influência de tudo isso e soava ainda como
post-punk, mas seu estereótipo era gótico, suas
temáticas seriam chamadas de góticas e, por esse motivo, é considerada a
primeira banda gótica.  Agora, tirando esse estereótipo, quem de fato deu uma
cara ao estilo foi o The Sisters of Mercy, que
surgiu em 1980. Mais ainda que o Bauhaus, o
grupo de Andrew Eldritch definiu as bases do rock gótico. Vocais grossos,
instrumental carregado na melancolia, letras extremamente sombrias, visual
mais “dark” entre outras coisas. Isso aconteceu no começo da década de 80. A
banda, antes de lançar seu primeiro cd, The First The Last and The Always,
era presa fortemente no post-punk. Mas nesse período já flertavam com a new

groups like Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, and Joy Division who
created a new more introverted style of punk which focused on

Another strong influence is The Sisters of Mercy who

The years in which the goth movement originated (79-83) were extremely interesting and diverse musically. For anyone who considers the Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim and the Mission to be the archetypal goth bands, the early scene is a rather strange place. Another common misconception about the early goth scene is that it was closely tied to New Romantic. The term "gothic" for individual bands was around in 1979, and there were signs of an emerging musical movement by early 1981, when Abbo inadvertently tagged it "gothic", but goth as an identifiable movement in terms of both music and fashion didn't really appear till 1982. Early Influences
The immediately obvious influences are Joy Division, Bauhaus and Siouxsie, all of whom are covered in the bands section. As influências são imediatamente óbvios Joy Division, Bauhaus e Siouxsie, os quais são abordados no bandas seção.
However, amongst the punk and post-punk scene were several other bands who had definite influences on the early goth scene. No entanto, entre o punk eo pós-punk cena foram várias outras bandas que tiveram influências definitiva sobre o início da cena goth.

Another band who may have had some influence are the little-known Gloria Mundi . According to Mick Mercer, they had a "goth" sound and imagery by about 1978. Further back, the pre-punk origins of goth can be argued endlessly, and have been. Mais para trás, o pré-punk origens do gótico pode argumentar interminavelmente, e ter sido. However, the most important influences on the early goth bands outside of punk were probably the Doors, the Velvet Underground and Bowie, as well as the 70s "glam" scene (T.Rex, Sweet, and perhaps Roxy Music). Note : This is not a definitive list of early goth bands, it's simply highlighting the ones who were most important in the early scene (and in one case specifically pointing out a band who were important later on but not in the early scene). Joy Division are not usually thought of as being goth, despite being referred to as "gothic" at the time, but their influence on goth bands was considerable. However, Joy Division were never a part of the goth scene; the goth scene proper started to emerge around 81/82, by which time Ian Curtis was long dead. The goth movement may be viewed as an interplay between the music, the fashion and the people who formed the subculture. As can be seen from the above, after the interview by Mary Hannon "Gothic" seems to have become a quite common term describing Joy Division and certain other groups, including the Banshees. This would be around late 82/early 83 (when both bands were "coming up") and thus post-dates both Hannett's and Abbo's use of the term "gothic", but is probably the first use of the term "goths" to describe devotees of a certain type of musical style.
